At Jozefa Poniatowskio in Bromberg (polish Bydgoszcz), Gestapo had its local headquarters. Head of the Bromberg Gestapo between 1939 and 1944 was Obersturmbannführer, Karl-Heinz Rux. Bromberg’s Gestapo was very much involved in the murders committed against Poles in the district of Danzig-Western Prussia. Between 1945 and 1955 the house was used by the Polish Communist Police.

Nowadays there is a local police office in the building and probably it’s a building erected sometime after the Second World War. On the fence outside the building there are memorials in honor of those who fell victim to both Nazis and Communists.
