Lodz Gestapo HQ

Gestapo’s headquarters in Lodz lied just outside the Jewish ghetto and head of Lodz Gestapo was Hauptsturmführer Dr. Otto Bradfisch. Gestapo had a great influence over the Jews who were in the ghetto and contributed to their deportation to the extermination camps. From the ghetto in Lodz, the Jews were deported mainly to Chelmno but also to Auschwitz when the ghetto was dismantled in the summer of 1944.

Current status: Preserved with memorial tablet (2017).

Address: Limanowskiego 1, 90-001 Lodz.

Get there: Tram.

My comment:

A rather ugly building that in no way brings to mind the Gestapo.

Follow up in books: Höhne, Heinz: The Order of the Death’s Head: The story of Hitler’s SS (1969).
