About three kilometers northwest of Piotrkow Trybunalski, lies Rakowi and there in a forest the Nazis killed 560 jews from the ghetto of Piotrkow Trybunalski in December 1942. In 1943, 39 children from the same ghetto also killed in the forest.

Like many other similar monuments in similar places, they are erected on private initiative, usually by relatives to the victims.
